I've always been the kind of guy that hates a 'tool' that only does one thing. There are lots of house hold appliences that do this, just watch infomercials and you'll see what I mean. The funny part is they always try to make it seem like it can do a million things.
Here are some examples:
- salad shooter
- the 'vertical rotisery'
- a juicer (can get juice out of oranges, carrots... probably even a brick. MMmmm brick juice).
- a chopper, dicer, gratter, slicer, purier... the list goes on and on.
On the other hand I'm a big fan of tools that do LOTS of things, like:
- a dremel tool
- table saw
- oven
- swiss army knife
- programmable coffeemaker.... wait whaooohaat?
Ok so the coffee maker is probably more like the first list above... but I am going to let you in on a couple sweet things you can do with a programmable coffee maker. Here is my list of things you can make:
- coffee (I bet you didnt know you could do that did you)
- tea, apple cyder, hot chocolate
- oatmeal in the mornings
- easy mac'n cheese for a quick lunch
- instant mashed potatoes (ya have to get the good kind other wise it tastes like blahhh)
- cup-o-noodles, ramen noodles, general 'add boiling water to me' noodles
- soft-boiled eggs
- hot dogs
You can see the some of them would be great for using the programmable part of the coffee maker (oatmeal, easy mac, ramen). You could set it the night before or in the morning and have a nice lunch or breakfast waiting for you.
On the other hand I dont think its probably a good idea to stick a hot dog in your coffee pot and set it to cook in the morning... that hot dog will probably taste pretty bad after sitting there all night.
Anyone have any other ideas for other foods you can cook with your programmable coffee maker?
